Stuart McCall needed a new website for his photography business, North Light Images (northlightimages.com). And, later, for his art portfolio (stuartmccall.ca). I designed both sites to be responsive to a wide range of screen shapes, as well as touch-friendly, accessible, and delightful to interact with.
At the core of these sites, I created an image gallery with a carefully tuned single-page design focused on performance and simplicity. The images and videos are always prominently visible, but relevant information remains a glance away. Thoughtful colour use and balanced typography are key here.
Both sites are built on the same custom Django backend, which makes it easy to add new content while delivering lightning-fast page loads from cache (especially considering our dirt cheap web host).
As well as the site’s code itself, I published a Python module which provides a convenient sort widget for Django’s admin interface.
